In effect from 23 October 2026.
1. The short version
Clipee moves your clipboard between your own devices. It is built so that what you copy does not sit on our servers and we cannot read it.
We do hold a small amount of information about you: the email address you sign in with, the record of your trial and your purchase, and whatever you write to us. We use it to run the service and to answer you. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.
The rest of this page is the detail behind those two paragraphs.
2. Who we are
Clipee is provided by Clipee. In the language of data protection law, we are the “controller” of the personal information described here: we decide how and why it is used, and we are answerable for it.
For anything to do with your privacy, write to hello@clipee.app.
3. What happens to your clipboard
This is the part most people come here to read, so it gets its own section.
- It travels between your devices. When your devices can reach each other, on the same Wi-Fi for example, what you copy goes straight from one to the other.
- Sometimes it needs a relay. Some networks block direct connections. When that happens, a relay passes the item along. It is encrypted before it leaves your device and the relay cannot open it. The relay does not keep it once it has been delivered.
- Your history stays on your devices. Clipboard history, pins and snippets are stored on the device itself. They are not uploaded to an account and we have no copy.
- Sensitive-content checks happen on the device. When Clipee decides whether something looks like a password or a card number, it does so locally. The content is not sent anywhere to be analysed.
Because of this design, we cannot read, search or hand over the contents of your clipboard. We do not have them.
4. Voice dictation and translation
- It runs on your PC. Speech recognition and translation happen entirely on your computer. Your voice, the words Clipee hears and their translations are never sent to us or to anyone else, and are never saved to disk. Audio is held in memory only while it is being transcribed.
- The microphone is opened only when you ask. Dictation opens it when you press the shortcut and closes it when the dictation ends. If you turn on “Hey Clipee”, the microphone stays open while that setting is on, and Windows shows it in use; what it hears is read on your PC and not saved, logged or sent.
- Dictations are not kept. Text Clipee types for you is not added to your clipboard history, and your clipboard is put back as it was after each insert.
- Model downloads. When you download a speech or translation model in Settings, it comes from its publisher’s repository on Hugging Face, which sees that request as any website sees a download. Nothing you say is part of that request.
5. Information we do collect
When you create an account
You sign in with your Google account. Google tells us your email address, your name and your profile picture, and nothing else. We never see or store your Google password. Alongside them we keep the state of your account: whether your free trial has started, when it ends, and whether you have bought Clipee.
When you buy Clipee
Your email address and the record of your purchase. Card details go directly to our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
When your devices connect
To introduce your devices to each other, our connection server handles a device identifier, the name you gave the device, and the IP addresses involved. It uses them for the moment of connection. It does not see what your devices then send each other.
When you write to us
Your name, your email address and the contents of your message, so that we can reply and keep track of the conversation.
When you visit this website
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs: IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We use these to keep the site running and to spot abuse. To show prices in the right currency, the site also works out which country your connection comes from. That answer is used for the page you are looking at and is not stored against you. The site sets no advertising cookies and carries no third-party trackers; it keeps only what it needs in your browser to keep you signed in.
What we do not collect
The contents of your clipboard, your clipboard history, your contacts, your location, or anything about what you do in other apps.
6. Why we use it, and on what legal ground
We use personal information only for the purposes below. Where the law asks for a legal basis, this is it.
- To provide Clipee and take payment for it. This is necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To keep the service secure and working. Detecting abuse, fixing faults and protecting accounts is in our legitimate interest, and in yours.
- To answer you. When you contact us, we use what you send in order to reply. That is our legitimate interest, or a step you asked us to take.
- To meet legal duties. Tax and accounting rules require us to keep purchase records.
- To send product news, if you asked for it. Only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from any email we send.
We do not make decisions about you by automated means, and we do not build advertising profiles.
8. How long we keep it
- Account and purchase records: for as long as you have an account, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Connection data: for the length of the connection, and in short-lived logs used to diagnose faults.
- Messages you send us: for as long as it takes to resolve them, and then for up to two years in case you write again about the same thing.
- Website logs: for a short period, then deleted or anonymised.
9. Where it is processed
The companies that work for us may process information in countries other than yours. When personal information leaves your country, we rely on the safeguards your law provides for that, such as standard contractual clauses approved for transfers out of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom.
10. How we protect it
Connections to our services are encrypted. Access to the information we hold is limited to the people who need it to do their work. The strongest protection, though, is the one described above: the most sensitive thing you use Clipee for never reaches us.
No system is perfectly secure. If something goes wrong and it affects your information, we will tell you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.
11. Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete it, where we have no legal duty to keep it;
- stop using it for a particular purpose, or use it less;
- hand it to you in a form you can take elsewhere.
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, write to hello@clipee.app. We do not charge for this, and we will answer within the time your law sets, which is usually one month.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom
These rights come from the GDPR and the UK GDPR. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
If you are in India
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may also nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to. Grievances can be sent to hello@clipee.app. If our answer does not resolve the matter, you may take it to the Data Protection Board of India.
If you are in California
The CCPA gives you the right to know, correct and delete your personal information, and not to be treated differently for using those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in that law.
12. Children
Clipee is not meant for children. You need to be 18, or the age of majority where you live, to buy a plan. If you believe a child has given us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we will change the date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already hold about you, we will email you before it takes effect.
14. Contact
Questions, requests and complaints about privacy go to hello@clipee.app, or through the contact page.
